You can DEP-end on MOSES

Accolades and honors are becoming the order of the day at MassDEP (Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection). The Wheelabrator Enforcement Team, which involved members of the Boston Environmental Strike Force (ESF), are all members of the Massachusetts Organization of State Engineers & Scientists (MOSES). Steven Spencer of Melrose, Dana Muldoon of Cambridge, Boxford’s Richard Tomczyk , Timothy Dame of Saugus, Dorchester’s John MacAuley, Karen Golden-Smith of Middleton, Jennifer Macionus from Tolland, CT and Greg Levins of Uxbridge make up the bulk of the Environmental Strike Force. In addition to the ESF, the team relied on the help from staff (also MOSES members) in the regional offices including Amesbury’s John Carrigan, Dave Adams of Westford, Cosmo Buttaro of Arlington, Ed Braczyk of Amherst, NH, Billerica’s Muhammad Ahsan, Lynne Welsh of Northboro, Maria L’Annunziata of Leominster and Catherine Kiley from Framingham. This team worked closely for 18 months with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office in what resulted in the largest civil penalty case in the history of the Commonwealth ($7.5 million) stemming from charges of numerous violations of the Hazardous Waste, Solid Waste, Wetlands Protection and Clean Water Act regulations. Shown at the State House ceremony is Pam Talbot with MOSES members Dana Muldoon of Cambridge, Saugus’ Joe Dorant, president of the Mass.
